Build Up Mathis
The "Build Up Mathis " program is a project of the Youth Continuum of Care Coalition. The coalition was awarded a Drug Free Communities (DFC) grant. With the funds received, the program is able to provide valuable services free of charge for Mathis such as:
-The Project Towards No Drug Abuse Program for all Mathis ISD 7th grade students
-An After-School Recreation Program for
6th-8th grade students
-A
Summer
Recreation Program for 1st-8th grade
students
-Conduct community
assessments and community mobilization trainings
-Provide prevention/treatment information
on alcohol, tobacco, and other
drugs
-Conduct monthly parent/community
meetings
-Sponsor activities in Mathis such as the
Summer Kick-Off Festival, Cinco de Mayo Festival, and a
Back-To-School Pep Rally.
The goal behind the "Build Up
Mathis" program is to truly help build up Mathis. By engaging the community
through activities and events, Mathis unites together to use all its
resources: local businesses, youth, educators, and residents. This leads to
empowering the community to strive to succeed by helping one
another.
Most importantly, the program hopes to create a bright future for all those living in the community by giving Mathis the tools it needs to succeed. The tools all come from within the community.
We love hearing suggestions and ideas from
the community, so do not hesitate to give us a call at 361-438-0303 (Jessica) or
361-215-6841 (Monica).
